Part 2 of our riveting Texas relocation pictorial!
In case you missed the first, it’s here.
Last time, I ended it with an image of us finally stepping on Texan soil. Well, 3 hours later, we were finishing the lease paperwork on our apartment and walking into it the very same day we arrived in Plano. So here’s what we saw once we got through the door:
Oh wow it does look nice and spacious– WHAT THE FUCK why does it have a carpet?!
This is not gonna bode well for my allergies. Oh well, at least it looks clean…
This is the entrance. You can see how strong the geekery is when the first thing we unpack is our laptop.
Another view of our awesome luggage and the awesome stickers we used to tell them apart.
Another view of the living room. It still looks quite barren, except for the table that supports both our PC’s (otherwise known as our life source), located to the right of the sliding door.
While I was snapping away, DS was hell bent on getting internet ASAP, so here he is talking to a Time Warner representative. Oh yeah there’s also our kitchen behind him.
Our sink, with a handy trash compactor and a dishwasher we never use because we have no idea how to work that fucking thing.
Great success! DS finally lands an installation date for some cable internet lovin’. Also, notice a copy of “Cooking with 4 ingredients” standing lonely and desolate beside the stove. We have yet to try any recipes from that damn book.
Meanwhile, look, a bathroom!
That mirror is huge. Perfect for performing your favorite drag song fully naked holding a brush as your microphone.
A view from the sliding door. Unfortunately we got a whole clusterfuck of AC’s right outside our bedroom window, so they can get quite noisy if we sleep with the windows open.
OMG so cute!
There’s also wild hares running around. The first time I saw one I thought someone’s bunny had escaped. Oh well, at least there’s plenty of wildlife to grill if we ever run tight on finances.
Ok time to GTFO the apartment and snoop around the complex. Oh hey what’s that?
*GASP*
WHEEEEEEE A POOL! all for myself! Fuck the air conditioning, this is where I’m going to cool off every day.
AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAhhhhh…
Tee-heeee!
The “spa”, which is always abandoned during summer. Who on their right mind would enter a hot tub in 100 degree heat?
“Under the seeeeeeeeeeeeeea! “Under the seeeeeeeeeeeeeea!”
Eat your fucking heart out Ariel, you red headed half fish whore.
That’s it for now. Next up, our 4th of July walk to my grad school, so you can finally see where I’m gonna be slaving over for the next two years.

God exists, mah love and His holy presence among us is that thing we mortals call “a dishwasher”. Go to the supermarket and get your Lord and Savior some offerings in the form of Electrasol Powerball Tabs:

Yes, you’re welcome.
by Codeina July 13th, 2008 at 8:36 pmThat’s gonna have to wait until we can afford to buy something other than food. But I’ll keep it in my “shit to buy when we gots money” list.
by Kaiser Dämmerung July 13th, 2008 at 11:14 pmBesides we don’t use that many dishes anyway.
Wheeee! More pictures!!
The apartment is looking great! And the complex is pretty darn nice, with a pool and all! So jealous… grrr…
by Xtian July 14th, 2008 at 10:42 amThe place you’re both staying looks fucking great. Even the pool is great to swim. Damn puny pool at the holiday inn in Richmond Virginia where i stayed last year. Don’t forget to buy a plasma tv at Best Buy or Target for your new home. he he.
by Haunted July 17th, 2008 at 10:37 pmOh trust me, that’s like the second thing on the “Shit to buy when we gots money” list
by Kaiser Dämmerung July 17th, 2008 at 11:20 pmLOL @ the Squirrel
Wow looks awesome!
I’m about to move, sold all the shit here in my house. Still don’t know how to ship some of my things (PC, Xbox, Wii) What do you recommend?
by SrBaluarte July 18th, 2008 at 4:07 pmThe absolute BEST way is to have a friend/relative in the area who is willing to hold your stuff while you arrive. That’s what we did. A very generous friend of DS who lives in Arlington held NINE BOXES full of our consoles and computers and crap. They were sent through UPS and properly insured and labeled as fragile. (Still a lot of the stuff got banged up but nothing got broken).
by Kaiser Dämmerung July 18th, 2008 at 4:26 pmIf you don’t know anybody in the area, try to get everything ready and packed up, but leave it with someone you trust. Move into your new place, and once you have your new address, have that friend or relative ship your boxes (leave them enough cash for the shipping or wire the money, since it can get pretty expensive if the boxes are heavy).
UPS can get costly, but from what we read and asked around about shipping companies it seems to be the most reliable and the one with less “lost boxes” or “broken shit” complaints. But you do your own research and pick the one you feel most comfortable with.
That’s about it, if you need any more specific answers ask away, I know how stressful it can get once the moving date starts getting closer.
Dude you are my savior. thanks a TON!!!!!!
I’ll definitely go with UPS and then… OFF TO WHORELANDO!!!!!!!!!!
by SrBaluarte July 19th, 2008 at 1:23 amGood luck man! You’re gonna have a good time as long as money permits. Orlando seems fun, even though I didn’t get to explore all of the good stuff. I’ll definitely return one day and do the whole “annoying tourist” thing in all of Disney’s parks.
